2021年12月，湖南省水利厅印发《推进BIM技术在水利工程全生命周期应用的指导意见》（以下简称《意见》），提出分三个阶段推进BIM技术应用，2021-2022年选择部分重点项目开展BIM技术应用试点；2023-2025年重大水利项目全面推行BIM技术应用；2030年底，所有水利工程广泛使用BIM技术，实现BIM技术在水利工程全生命周期应用。
